Do your kids know about Tu BiShvat?
On Tu BiShvat – the 15th day of Shvat – trees celebrate their birthday! The New Year for Trees marks the renewal and reawakening of nature after its winter slumber. The joyous day is celebrated in Israel and by Jews worldwide, primarily by feasting on a large variety of delicious fruit. Special attention is given to Shiv’at Haminim, the Seven Species connected to Israel, namely, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranate, olives, and dates (honey).
What is unique about the Seven Species? How do they relate to us?
